Maya's First Formal Meal. Last night we tried to feed Maya her first formal meal. We have been trying to feed her since April, but she did not seem to show too much excitement. Since she is increasing her movements, she seems to be hungrier. It seems that she needs something more than just breast milk. We finally pulled the high chair from the garage and initiated the "official protocol" to feed her. Most of the rice cereal ended up all over her face and chair, but she did get something. She did pretty well with the cereal, although from our past experiments we do know that she loves pears and bananas. After her meal, Maya was given a deep cleaning bath, since she had a "facial mask" of cereal, jajaja.

Primera comida official: anoche comenzamos oficialmente a dar solidos a Maya. Realmente, iniciamos el proceso en Abril pero ella no parecia demasiado interesada, asi que no nos seguimos esforzando. Ultimamente, parece que tiene mas hambre que de costumbre, seguramente debido al incremento en su capacidad motriz, jajaja. Asi es que sacamos su sillita del garage, la limpiamos y sentamos a la gorda con su cereal de arroz. Por supuesto, el cereal termino mas afuera que adentro pero es un comienzo.
El cereal le gusto, pero en nuestros experimentos anteriores hemos descubierto que le encantan las peras y las bananas. Despues de su comida, Maya termino en un bano de inmersion para remover la "mascara facial" de cereal que tenia, jajaja.

What a great way to spend our Sunday! We laid on the grass and had lunch with our friends Tessa, Brian and their baby, Cormac. Cormac and Maya like each other a lot and they are becoming good friends. It is very cute to see them smiling at each other.

Que linda manera de pasar el Domingo! tirados en el pasto de cara al sol con nuestros amigos Tessa, Brian y su bebe Cormac. Maya y Cormac se divierten mucho, intercambian sonrisas y se estan haciendo muy buenos amigos; es muy dulce verlos juntos.

Saturday in the park. We walked around the lake and we looked at the geese. We also went on a train ride and we thought of papa Donald who loves trains. Like papa Donald always says, "you have to start them early"

El Sabado fuimos al parque. Caminamos alrededor del lago y miramos los gansos. Tambien anduvimos en el trencito y nos recordamos del abuelo Donald, a quien le encanta los trenes.

Maya in her crib. Since 5/25 she got on her hands and knees and started rocking. Also, she started grabbing things and vigorously shaking them, like she does with her poor monkey. Her monkey is one of her favorite toys. Thanks aunt Cathie for this present!
Another new thing is to scream at the top of her lungs when she is very happy; she discovered she has a voice. She usually loves to do this at 5:30 am, just to make sure mommy and daddy are awake. Oh our rooster baby!

Maya en su cuna. Desde el 25/5 Maya se pone en cuatro "patas" y se mece para atras y adelante. Ademas comenzo a agarrar cosas y a sacudirlas vigorosamente,como puede apreciarse en el video, pobre mono! Este mono es uno de sus juguetes favoritos. Gracias Tia Cathie por este regalito!
Otro descubrimiento es su voz. Unas de sus actividades favoritas es gritar a puro pulmon a las 5:30 am, solo para asegurarse que mami y papi estan despiertos.
